ABSTRACTING BLACKNESS
24TH-26TH MARCH 2023

Abstracting Blackness was the show curated by London-based Curator and Art Director Alero Helena Opuama (aka Alero Art) at Omaka Gallery from the 24th-26th March, 2023. I was honoured to showcase my work in this exhibition which explored nostalgic and contemporary black narratives through various abstract works. From acrylics to photography, poetry, and digital art, the 10 black artists featured in this show each had a story to tell.

Inspired by her BA in Development Studies and MSc in the Politics of Conflict, Rights and Justice at SOAS, Alero is dedicated to showcasing black communities' lived experiences and the politics of blackness artistically.

Known for art-directing emotive and thought-provoking photography, this exhibition consists of nuanced, vulnerable, and vibrant pieces that interrogate the black status quo.
